| Solid Steering Shaft Assembly: You can sharpen your Mustang's steering response with this solid steering shaft assembly. With your stock steering shaft, motion is lost due to the flexing of the rubber rag-joint. This flexing usually feels like play in the steering wheel (you can move the steering wheel without the car changing direction). The factory joints are replaced with race-quality needle-bearing U-joints, resulting in a dramatic improvement in steering response. |

Power Steering Pump Kit
Improve steering feel with MM's new Racing Power Steering Pump Kit. A common complaint in high performance driving is a difficulty in accurately placing the car on the track due to the over-assisted stock power steering system. The high assist level of the stock system makes the steering feel extremely light, and reduces the usable feedback to the driver. This light feel causes the driver to turn the steering wheel much more than intended, which leads to a lack of driving smoothness. |
|
 |
This MM kit greatly improves the steering feel by reducing the amount of power assist. Steering effort is increased just enough to provide good feedback to the driver. The MM kit optimizes the pump's output pressure without reducing the output volume. Home-brewed efforts to improve steering feel by using larger pulleys or restrictor orifices can cause a sudden loss of steering assist during rapid movements of the steering wheel, a potentially dangerous situation. Because the MM pump maintains the proper output volume, the level of power assist remains constant, regardless of how rapidly the steering wheel is turned.
The pump in this MM kit requires less engine power to operate than the stock power steering pump, freeing up horsepower for quicker acceleration. It can be run at over 7,000 RPM for extended periods of time without overheating the power steering fluid. Install this kit and put an end to the problems caused by the stock pump: Over-assisted and imprecise steering, fluid spewing because of fluid overheating, and that annoying whine! The reduced pressure of this pump also reduces the likelihood of blowing out steering rack seals. Except for the serpentine belt, the MM kit includes everything needed for installation: High-performance pump, a pump mounting bracket designed specifically by MM for the Mustang 5.0 engine, a fluid reservoir, a large fluid cooler, all necessary hardware, and all hoses and fittings. Does not reuse any OEM hoses.
The level of steering assist can be adjusted to suit personal preferences by changing the outlet restrictors on the pump. This can be done with the addition of the Restrictor Valve kit, part number ST-71 (see below).
|
|
You will probably need 2 quarts of fluid to install this kit. Try Red Line Power Steering Fluid.
Note: Does not fit with air conditioning, and a different length belt is required. At low engine RPMs, such as when parking, the assist level may be very low, causing an increase in steering effort.
Note: On 1994-95 Mustangs the upper idler pulley must be removed, the coil must be relocated elsewhere, and a shorter belt must be installed.
Restrictor Valve Kit:
This kit has 8 different restrictor valves for the pump in the MM Power Steering Pump Kits (ST-70 & ST-72). Use these valves to change the amount of power assist from the pump. Note: The ST-70 kit comes with a restrictor valve that works quite well for most racing situations.
Racing Power Steering Restrictor Valve Kit:
This kit has 8 different restrictor valves for the pump in the MM Power Steering Pump Kits (ST-70 & ST-72). Use these valves to change the amount of power assist from the pump. Note: The ST-70 or 72 kit comes with a restrictor valve that works quite well for most racing situations. |

Front Steering Rack Bushings, Aluminum: Improve your Mustang's turn-in response by installing Maximum Motorsports steering rack bushings! They Increase the effect of Ackerman steering geometry by moving the steering rack rearward in the chassis and eliminate the steering rack movement allowed by rubber and urethane bushings. These precision-made bushings are CNC machined from heat-treated 6061 aluminum. Maximum Motorsports' research on bumpsteer proved that with a stock K-member, a center drilled bushing is best, whatever the ride height. When large changes in geometry have been made, as with the MM K-member, the correct use of offset steering rack bushings will relocate the rack to a position which makes it easier to correct the bumpsteer with the MM Adjustable Tie-Rod Ends.
Caution: We don't recommend offset rack bushings for stock K-Members...
Offset steering rack bushings move the rack far too much on stock K-Members, and make an acceptable situation far worse than if you had done nothing.. |

MMST-7 Aluminum Steering Rack Bushings, center drilled, 12 mm inside diameter for a new installation on a 10/1984-2004 Mustang, with stock K-member.
MMST-7.1 Spherical Washer Rack Bushing Upgrade Kit, to upgrade previously installed MM Aluminum Steering Rack Bushings. Fits only 1985-2004 Mustang with MM center-drilled aluminum rack bushings, and a stock k-member. This kit may require modifications to older, previously installed MM aluminum rack bushings (MMST-3), and a stock k-member.
Kit includes items in photo, excluding the main aluminum bushings themselves, which are retained from your existing kit. If you want a complete kit with all new parts, purchase the MMST-7 kit.

| SVO Spindle/Ball Joint Adapter: The solution to worn out SVO ball joints! This adapter enables the installation of 1984-86 SVO Mustang spindles (sourced from Lincoln) with 1979-2004 Mustang ball joints. The ball joints for the original SVO front control arms are no longer available.
|
|
|
 |
With this adapter:
* Maximum Motorsports Front Control Arms (MMFCA-10 & MMFCA-11 control arms with Forward-offset geometry, designed for an SN95 Mustang) can be installed on a 1984-86 SVO Mustang. This will require the installation of a coil-over conversion kit. Installing these MM Front Control Arms will retain the original track width while moving the front tires forward 1/4" from their original location, improving weight distribution.
* SVO/Lincoln spindles can be installed on a Fox chassis Mustang. |

Tie-Rod Ends - Adjustable : You will need one of these kits to correct and adjust the bumpsteer on your car, after making changes to control arm position or geometry, or if significantly increasing caster.
Bumpsteer is a term for the situation where the front toe changes as the suspension moves up and down. If the toe changes more than a very small amount it will cause the car to change direction, making the car unstable and unpredictable. MM offers two types of Adjustable Tie-Rod Ends. The tapered stud type can be used to make moderate changes to the geometry. It is best suited for use with a stock K-member, and does not require any modification to the spindle. The bolt-through spindle type has a much wider range of adjustment. It is required for most situations when installing a MM K-Member and requires drilling out the tapered hole in the spindle to accept a 5/8" bolt. |

MMTR-5 Conversion kit from tapered stud to bolt-through spindle
If you need a greater range of adjustment on your tie-rod kit, and have the tapered stud style kit, this kit will allow you to convert to a bolt-through style kit, without repurchasing an entire kit. |
|
MMTR-6 Adjustable Tie Rod End Kit, 1979-93, with SN 95 control arms and a FOX steering rack, bolt-through style spindle.
This kit has longer sleeves to accommodate the longer arm length if increasing the track width by using later model control arms. The sleeves in our other kits aren't long enough to allow sufficient thread engagement.
