GPS Antennas
Antennas are magnetic mounting, patch type antennas, since these are the best type to use for the automotive application where they can simply be placed on the top of the roof.
Standard GPS antenna
A very high quality magnetic mounting GPS antenna. Race Technology has tested many types - and this came out the best by a clear margin. It's completely waterproof, reliable, very sensitive to weak signals and rarely suffers from radio interference. The connector is an SMA type, and it requires a 2.5v-5.0v supply - which it receives from the data logger. |
RF-interference rejecting GPS antenna
On several occasions Race Technology's has found that the otherwise excellent standard GPS antenna can have trouble obtaining a GPS lock in very RF-noisy environments, such as at professional race meetings where outside broadcast vans, telemetry equipment used by racing teams to communicate with the vehicles and many other strong RF sources can mask the weak GPS signal. On these occasions Race Technology's has solved the problem by supplying this RF-interference rejecting GPS antenna, which can retain lock even in extremely noisy environments. The antenna is slightly more noisy than the standard antenna in normal circumstances, so should only be purchased if an RF interference problem is either known or suspected. The connector is an SMA type, and it requires a 2.7v-5.0v supply - which it receives from the data logger.
Low-noise GPS antenna
This antenna has been found in testing to give slightly lower noise on the signal and data received under some circumstances. For most customers, this is unlikely to give any perceivable benefit, and we would recommend selecting the standard antenna. However, some customers, particularly in the industrial testing sector, may find this antenna gives some improvement in the quality of the recorded data. This antenna may be of particular interest to those using the SPEEDBOX-RTK unit, since this antenna may sometimes aquire or retain an RTK lock where the standard antenna cannot, when the GPS signal quality is marginal for the RTK system to lock-on. The connector is an SMA type, and it requires a 2.7v-5.0v supply - which it receives from the data logger. |

ECU Interfaces
The Race Technology ECU interface is a small in-line module for use with a DASH1 or DASH2 display, a DL1 or DL2 data logger or any combination of data logger plus display, to allow data from your engine management system to be displayed and recorded. Various models are available to suit ECUs with CAN or serial outputs, as well as production vehicle CAN OBD2 or Serial OBD2 ports. |
Serial OBD2 Interface system
Gets data from production ECU's using the standard OBD "On Board Diagnostics" connector
Compatible with all Race Technology displays and loggers
The serial OBD2 system reads data directly from the vehicles OBD2 "On Board Diagnostics" port. The system translates the available data from the OBD2 port to a format that Race Technology's displays and loggers can use. |
Vehicle Compatibility:
The Serial OBD2 interface is specifically for use with production vehicles (or other vehicles using production ECUs) which do not use CAN (Controller Area Network) technology for their OBD2 output. In the US market, this includes all production vehicles of model year 1996 and after, until roughly 2002. CAN was phased in between roughly 2003 and 2008, with German automobiles typically adopting it sooner than US and Japanese. Vehicles with the newer CAN OBD2 technology will need Race Technology's CAN OBD2 Interface.
The Serial OBD2 Interface will work with vehicles using IS09141-2 and SAEJ1850 VPW or PWM technologies. Race Technology's do not have a product compatible with older OBD1 vehicles unless they have an aftermarket ECU. |

ECU interface - CAN
Optain data directly from ECU
Compatible with a wide range of ECU's
Compatible with all Race Technology displays and loggers |
What is the CAN ECU interface?
The Race Technology ECU interface is a small in-line module for use with a DASH1 or DASH2 display, a DL1 or DL2 data logger or any combination of data logger plus display, to allow data from your engine management system to be displayed and recorded. The CAN interface is compatible with vehicle ECUs using the Bosch Controller Area Network (CAN) communications system, otherwise you will need the Serial Interface.
Who is the CAN ECU interface designed for?
The ECU interface is designed for anyone wishing to read vehicle or drive train sensor data directly from their ECU, without the need for additional sensors, and whose ECU communicates via CAN. Common parameters such as engine speed, coolant temperature, throttle position, etc, are normally available from the ECU, so no additional sensors would be required if using the ECU interface. This leaves the analogue input channels on your data logger free for connection to more specialised sensors, not normally monitored by your ECU (eg: suspension travel). ECUs are being added to the compatibility list all the time.
ECU Compatibility:
Please contact Race Technology to confirm compatibility with your ECU. Please note that the base CAN ECU interface is not configured for any ECU, it needs to be configured. If you do not have ECU or manufacturer-specific CAN parameter information, do not purchase the base version. If you have a vehicle with CAN-enabled OBD2 you may wish to consider the CAN OBD2 adapter.
Key Features
* Compatible with Race Technology displays and data loggers as stand alone units, or as part or a data logger and display system
* Receive data from existing vehicle sensors via your ECU - no need to add additional sensors for data logging. All channels from ECU are in addition to the channels already provided with the Race Technology data logger/display
* CAN interface fully user configurable with software supplied. Programmable for virtually any vehicle or ECU using standard CAN protocols. Select which channels to receive and decode.
* Upgradeable firmware.
* Robust CNC machined aluminium enclosure (3.5 cm x 2.5 cm x 1 cm) with potted electronics
* Supplied with cables, instruction manual and comprehensive software CD |
